My Makeup Favourites of 2017

Why hello there beautiful people!

Today’st post is a little bit late but we are still in the month of January and therefore, I think it’s okay. I also put up a pole on my Insta story this past weekend and the majority of the vote said it was not too late. So let’s get started!

These are all makeup products that I have probably been using the most of in the year of 2017 and the products that I discovered in 2017 and that I thought were so good that it had to be shared!

Let’s start with some base products

Milani 2in1 Conceal and Perfect Foundation and Concealer Shade 02 Natural.

I have probably only used this foundation 2 or 3 times but I love this stuff. The reason I have only used it this many times is because it’s a full coverage foundation and I don’t always need to use a full coverage base. This foundation creates such a nice and flawless finish to the skin. I love the finish that you get with this product and it doesn’t even feel heavy on your skin either. So glad I managed to find a shop in London, Westfields Shopping Mall, that stocks Milani products. I just had to purchase this as I had heard good things about it before. I ended up buying the wrong shade, I’m actually one shade lighter than this but I have made it work with the next product that I’m going to talk about.

I am so happy that I purchased this product. The main reason I wanted to buy this was because after buying that Milani foundation and realising that it was the wrong shade, I really wanted to make it work. These shade adjusting drops make your foundation one shade lighter – and it really does exactly that. I’ve been loving this so much. I’ve used it with my Milani foundation and I can now wear that foundation without spending more on buying the other shade. I have also used this with another foundation where it was slightly too dark for me and these drops saved it. I would recommend buy this if you have ever bought a foundation that’s just one shade too dark. These things happen guys, especially in shops where the lighting is a bit off or different than normal lighting.

NYX Cosmetics Mosaic Powder Blush Shade: Rosey

Up next we have this Mosaic Powder blush by NYX Cosmetics and as you can tell, it’s been well loved in 2017. I’m already hitting pan with this product. This shade┬áis a nice mixture of pinks and corals is just right for me, bringing a really nice flush of colour that is not too overpowering. It has just been one of my most go-to blushes.

MAC Cosmetics Lipstick – Shade: Velvet Teddy

Here we have the first of a few lip products that I’m going to be mentioning in this post. I didn’t expect to like this shade as much as I do now. Velvet teddy has been a really popular shade and when I first used this, the colour seemed to have more of a brown hue to the shade rather than a mauve pink that I expected it to be. So I didn’t expect to use it as much, but I have been using this quiet a lot. The colour actually looks so good on the lips. It’s a really nice, nude shade to go with any bold eye look. I also like using this with a pink/mauve lip liner and they go really well together.

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour – Shade Rose & Shine

The Stay Matte Liquid Lip colour from Rimmel has a really smooth and creamy formula that makes it so comfortable to wear on the lips and not drying at all. I absolutely hate it when matte liquid lipsticks become so drying on your lips and crack. This does not do any of that which is why it’s here on my favourites. This shade in particular is your every day shade type of colour. My sister in law loves this shade! It also smells so good!

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick – Shade: Patina

This lip product has been loved and will continue to be loved from me in the years to come. Everyone has probably heard of this notorious Patina shade and with good reason. This liquid lipstick has become a quick favourite of mine because the formula is amazing. So comfortable and this shade is such a perfect colour to go with any eye look. This is not drying at all on the lips so you can wear this with comfort and confidence in knowing that it looks and feels good. I highly recommend this lip product.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick – Shade: Double Dare

I’ve decided that 2017 was the year I discovered comfortable formulas for liquid lipsticks. This is no exception! I bought 2 shades of these Kat Von D liquid lipstick and this Double Dare shade I’ve used the most out of the 2. This shade is darker and more red than the other lip colours in this post. I like wearing this when wearing a more neutral look on the eyes or for days when I don’t wear any eyeshadow at all. Once again, loving the formula of these. Also tempted to get more shades of this and the Stila ones.

Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Liquid Lipstick: Shade Chihuahua

This is a great lip product to keep in your hand bag for when you’re on the go because this does not come with a wand to apply the product. It’s all in a squeezable tube where the product dispenses through a little slanted sponge tip. The slanted tip allows you to outline your lip shape easily. This shade is also a very lovely pink shade that makes it a perfect every day colour. You can probably see a pattern here with what lip colours I usually go for. This is not a matte formula and does not dry down so it is transferable.

Bourjois Healthy Balance Matte Setting Powder – Shade: 52 Vanilla

This has been my most used setting powder ever. I’ve repurchased this more times than I can remember now. I have also featured this in one of my empties post HERE. This is a matte setting powder and I have just been loving the finish of this and have been through so many of these now. I recommended this to a friend and she also started loving it.

KIKO Milano Highlighter – Shade Beam of Light

This highlighter by KIKO was an impulse buy at the till point when the cashier offered it. I don’t even know if KIKO still sell this product, but I have really been enjoying this highlighter. When I need a quick glow up, I would grab this and this creates a really nice glow to the skin. It’s not too overpowering, it’s just right. Ofcourse, you can build up the colour to your desirable level of glow-ness. It’s just been one of those highlighters that I would grab when I’m getting ready and doing my makeup quickly.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – Shade: Warm Medium 3

How could I not include this concealer?! I’m sure you are no stranger to this concealer. This has quickly become my go-to concealer! I have always been on the lookout for concealers that cover up my dark under eyes and this does a pretty good job in concealing that area. Absolutely love this stuff! I have repurchased this many times now and it’s so affordable. Definitely try this out if you get a chance to.

I started using the Huge Extreme Lash Mascara from Stila late in the year of 2017 but it instantly became a favourite. This mascara provides so much volume to my lashes and that’s what I love about a mascara. Really enjoyed using this mini sized one and would recommend this mascara. I had this in my collection for a really long time before actually using it and was little shocked that I had a mascara this good and hadn’t even used it until now. Thanks to one of my close friends who gifted me a gift set from Stila that includes a full size of this, I have a back up! Yay!

Artdeco Long Lasting Kohl Eyeliner and Urban Decay 24-7 Glide On Pencil – Shade: Perversion

I use black eyeliner on my waterline on a daily basis and I’ve always done this for years – ever since I can remember. So these 2 black eyeliners I have used a lot in 2017. They both glide on very easily onto the waterline with great colour pay off. I don’t need to try and swipe a lot on my water line to get the colour to show, you can just simply glide the product on the water line. As you can see by the Artdeco one, I need to repurchase as it’s now too small to sharpen.

Ever since I received this product to review, I have not stopped using it. I also reviewed this product in one of my blog posts HERE. I hardly put effort in my brows so this product makes doing my brows so easy. If you want to see the rest of my thoughts, feel free to check out my review.

MUA Makeup Academy 15 Shade: Fire Vixen Eyeshadow Palette

I have so many eyeshadow palettes in my collection. I actually counted them all once and its more than 54 palettes. So as you can imagine, I really can’t choose a favourite because I always try and use a different palette each time so that I can spread my love throughout my collection. But this eyeshadow palette right here has gotten a lot of use out of me this past year. I have reviewed this palette as well in my previous post HERE with swatches included. I have mainly used the shimmery shades in this palette just on its own and I blend it with the vanilla shade and also use the vanilla shade to highlight the brow bone and blend the colour so that there’s no harsh lines. I love how warm this palette is and for days when I need to do my makeup quick, I can grab this palette, use those shades and it looks like you actually made an effort with your eye make up.

Last but not least, I have always loved the All Nighter Setting Spray by Urban Decay. Does a great job in setting your makeup and helping it last longer throughout the day. I try not to use this that much because it’s so expensive, but I’m almost finished with this one. I also featured my previous bottle of this in one of my empties post.

Before I sign off, I had to include a quick non-makeup related favourite. This is my favourite top coat for my nails. If you’re looking for a good top coat, you really need to try this. It provides a gorgeous and shiny finish to my nails. It also makes my nails last a good 2-3 days without chipping. Highly recommend this!

There we have it, my makeup favourites of 2017. I hope you enjoyed reading some of my favourite products and helped in some way if you have ever thought of purchasing any of these products.
